I am super excited to be writing this I don’t even know where to start…I am going to cover the main slate but may add a new article or add in additional notes to this existing article. Each article will be formatted differently depending on what I see in the slate. Enjoy!

Top Teams

Bayern Munich – Bayern comes into this match actually in some poor form. They have lost 2 matches in a row and were in shock when beaten by Hertha Berlin last time out. They need to get back into form quickly. This may not be super easy as Ajax is an incredibly good defensive team, but don’t give them too much credit as it is a totally different task trying to do so away from home at Bayern. Lewandowski is going to be a top play today, he has the highest goal scoring odds and is in top form on the team. Best to keep him to GPP but if it happens you can fit him easily, not a bad idea to get him in cash games, he takes enough shots that it could provide him a solid floor. The best way to go about cash games with Bayern is to pay up for Kimmich at defense, and pair him with Rodriguez where he should get plenty of opportunities to create chances and even lay on a few shots. Alcantara is expected to get the start here as well, we saw him put together some great efforts last season in Champions League, his upside is more on FanDuel than DraftKings. I am not as much on Neuer as other people mainly because Bayern’s form is just not up to par at the current moment as it usually is. On top of that Ajax is also in good form and will come into this game trying to exploit Bayern’s current struggles.

AS Roma – Roma had a really tough time in their first Champions League match against Real Madrid, but they need to turn their season around and Viktoria Plzen will give them that opportunity. Dzeko is too cheap of a forward not to be considered. I think he is a solid cash game consideration as he averages 3-4 shots on goal per game. Pellegrini is coming into for for Roma, he is a playmaker more so than anything else, pairing him with Dzeko wouldn’t be a bad idea, I think you can even consider that pairing for cash games. Pellegrini is a very strong play on both sites and at a good price. With Dzeko taking majority of the offense up front, the prices on Under and El Shaarawy are really attractive, but stick them with tournaments unless you are down to the final 1 or 2 roster spots and they fit well. Kolarov is in the same type of boat as Kimmich is, I would rather pay for Kimmich in this instance, but Kolarov should be able to keep up the same production with continued upside.

Real Madrid – Take note, there is going to be value from Real Madrid. I don’t think the goal upside is going to be as large as is being predicted by Vegas and other projections, but I do think this is going to be the team to find value at. Isco, Bale, Marcelo, and Ramos are all going to be out for this match, meaning Real Madrid have quite a few holes to fit today. No telling who is going to fit in those holes, so make sure to be right in tune with starting lineups today for this. Benzema is completely off of my radar, but this could mean more usage for Asensio in the attack. I am most interested in the battle between Modric and Kroos. Who is going to step up in the attack? I would hedge the bet on Modric as he has a more aggressive style of play, but Kroos’ playmaking will be relied upon to get the initial attack started. This is going to be a very tough match for Real Madrid playing in Russia, so don’t expect a huge amount of goals, but rather use them as value on the slate.

Notable Players

With the top teams now selected, I will rundown other standout players whom could play a pretty large role for their club in today’s matches.

Fred (MU) – You can’t trust anything about Manchester United right now, but Fred continues to be super cheap and has been consistently taking set pieces. Not only that, he just scored a goal in EPL play and is slowly becoming more and more active in the attack. His floor is too good to pass up for his price and there is goal scoring opportunity.

Fekir (OL) – The impressive UCL win against Manchester City lasts week should have us pointing out Lyon a little more. Fekir does everything for them and has weapons around him that will help him score or help him make scoring chances. With the value on the slate, he should be easy enough to fit in regardless of his boosted price. For cheap exposure to the attack, Aouar is expected to start on the left side.

De Gea (MU) – I am probably a little crazy for mentioning this type of play, and as much as I think Neuer is the safest bet, De Gea is still the best keeper in arguably the world. United need to turn things around and right now Champions League is the one way Mourinho can keep the trust of fans and ownership. Based what we saw on the weekend against West Ham, United may be taking a counter-attack approach again by sitting back and defending. Not only does this cause save upside to De Gea, but United can’t afford a loss, so a win must come to them.
