Where Are The Goals?
This is the question we try to find for every soccer slate, but as you will notice in Champions League (UCL) DFS soccer that the goals can come from multiple places.
Napoli
Napoli has the highest win odds on the slate and the largest spread on the slate as well. Their win odds are set at -750 and spread is 3.5 total goals with a spread of 2.5 goals. The biggest problem with Napoli is they have 3 main guys that all have the exact same potential to score and they set each other up. Insigne, Mertens, Callejon all play extremely well together and although expensive they are great to stack together if possible. Out of the 3 of them, Mertens is the more goal dependent player, but to see him not score against Feyenoord will be surprising. The defensive back, Ghoulam also plays very much in the attack and could be a nice discount from one of these big time players if you need exposure to the offense.
Manchester City
They have been changing up their lineup through such a dominant run it is tough to figure out who we are going to see make the lineup for City. Expect to see Jesus and Aguero up front with the possibility of a 3 man front with Sterling beside these two. If they go with a 2 man front without Sterling, then DeBruyne and Silva should be starting in the back. City has been stupid dominant lately, so it is almost like they are in a matchup proof situation and should be able to get their abundance of goals. Aguero is always the main guy for them and the favorite pairing is with DeBruyne. With that said Silva is a major discount on both sites from DeBruyne and is just as much involved in the offense as DeBruyne.
Sevilla
They have been up and down lately, but their matchup against Maribor should see them pressing offensively at home. Sevilla has been changing up their starting lineup so much, but one thing has stayed consistent that Sarabia is the back bone of this team. He doesn’t take as many shots, but really no one outside of Ben Yedder is the clear cut guy who takes the most shots. Sarabia puts in a bunch of crosses and creates a ton of chances with Ben Yedder and Correa and the ball just flows through him putting him in positions for not only assists but goals on a slate for Sevilla where the spread is at 2 goals in favor of Sevilla. Escudero is similar to what Ghoulam is for Napoli that he is heavily involved in the offense and creates such an abundance of crosses and scoring opportunities for a header from Ben Yedder or Murriel.
Borussia Dortmund/Real Madrid
Normally these games scare me, but the biggest question of the day will be should we play Cristiano Ronaldo or is this the slate to fade him. He is always the most expensive but he is also almost a lock for a goal every single time he plays. This game is set at an over/under by Vegas at 3.5 goals and pretty much or a “pick’em” game. Lots of goals should be in this one, along with a lot of peripheral stats that can help boost players scores especially on FanDuel with defensive stats taken into account. Ronaldo is certainly fadeable today for high priced players on some of these previous teams talked about, but expect him to still get his. Don’t forget the other side of the game as Real Madrid is poor on defensive, this seems like a perfect spot for Aubameyang to continue netting goals for Dortmund. There is expected to be a lot of goals in this one and rightfully so we think you can expect it. In terms of cash games, Ronaldo is as far as we should go for cash, although Aubameyang is close as he is asserting himself as much more than JUST a goal scorer. In terms of tournaments expect this to be a lower ownership game because of these other big teams.
Where Does Tottenham Sit?
A bigger role is going to be asked of Harry Kane this matchup, and he along with Heung-Min Son are about the only options we should focus on. Eriksen is sidelined with an injury, Alli will be facing part of his 3 match suspension, Dembele and Lamela are also sidelined with injury. With so much injuries Kane will have to take more of a player makers role instead of just a goal scorer but that also means Heung-Min Son will also take more of a role. Tottenham has an easy enough matchup to still score and be victorious. They are not playing at Wembley which is even more of a plus, but with the loss of key players there is no telling whether Tottenham will actually work well together and if APOEL can take advantage.
Save Potential
We should always like to look at large home underdogs for cheaper goalies as we always know those are the goalies most likely to receive a plethora of shots and have a higher save opportunity being at home.
Waterman
Facing a Tottenham side filled with injury, we really don’t know how Tottenham are going to gel together today. He should receive a ton of shots on net and if Harry Kane plays more in a midfielder type role expect shots more outside of the box. He comes at a really nice price on DraftKings and even decent on FanDuel.
Rebrov
Whenever Liverpool plays away from Anfield you should always love the opposing goalie. Liverpool loves putting shots on net at all angles, and Rebrov should be extremely busy as this will be the first time Firminho, Coutinho, Salah, and Mane are all probably going to be starting together. These 4 guys together should be an incredibly offensively dominant group and expect shots every which way with Rebrov staying busy the entire match.
